Dayan Qigong for Elders and Others
This class integrates Dayan Qigong and other Qigong practices with a number
of somatic awareness modalities including Alexander Technique, Feldenkrais
and Anna Halprin work. Emphasis is on combining guided visualization with
movement. Thus, even persons who are not (yet) able to accomplish a movement
can, through mental enactment of the movement, tap into their innate
psycho-physical wisdom. (See basket-ball free throw study-link)
The energizing gentle stretches are accommodated for fatigue and/or pain
that the person may be experiencing, to assist the person in maintaining
comfort while challenging limits ever so lightly.
This class presents the 1700 year old Dayan Qigong form to support a daily
practice.
Dayan Qigong for Elders and Others

Class Descriptions:
This class is geared for Elders attending classes at the Richmond Senior
Center, but is suitable for all persons who would like to begin a gentle
movement practice at a gradual pace. Emphasis is also on development of
community. Like its namesake, the practice group comes to resemble a flock
of geese supporting each other to do more and be more; sending caring to any
goose that may go down for awhile, whatever the cause.
